Seventeen Va Va Voom Mascara // Makeup Monday

Do you ever feel like trying out a new mascara? Mascara is the one makeup product I always purchase differently! I rarely buy high end mascaras as the product doesn't last that long and you're supposed to change your mascara quite regularly... (I don't... Guilty). One of my most favourite mascaras is from the brand Seventeen at Boots, so, I went to that section and picked one up. It promised a, 'false lash effect with staying power.' Sounds good to me, I thought. I bought the waterproof version as I was going on holiday the week after so I could take it with me and wear it in the warm weather.

I have been wearing this mascara for the past two months and I am not disappointed. When I first applied this product, I was shocked by how much volume it gave me. When I saw my friends, they all thought I had a pair of false eyelashes on. That's how good this is. I'd compare the effect it gives to the Benefit They're Real Mascara. It's an absolute bargain at only £6.29. It is worth every penny!

The brush is made out of tapered bristles and let me warn you, it's quite chunky. Hence where the volume comes from. If you have small eyelashes, I'd give this product a miss as it could get extremely messy. Especially, at the first couple of uses as the formula is quite wet to begin with. However, if you have medium to long lashes, go out and grab this gem of a product!!

The mascara comes in three versions, that I'm aware of, black, brown and waterproof black. It is sold in Boots and you can buy it by clicking here.

What's your current favourite mascara? Let me know in the comments below.

Fresh Start @ The Open University

If you have followed me since the start of this blog, August 2013, you would have known that before it became, 'Hannah Notes,' it was originally called, 'Hannah The Fresher.' It feels so long ago, but it was only a year ago I started to study Geography at Swansea University and I hated it. When I finally dropped out in March this year, I took some time out to think about what I actually wanted to do with my life. This is a hard task for a nineteen year old girl. I still find it bizarre how we're supposed to have it all figured out when we're picking our GCSE subjects. I thought about an apprenticeship and was even offered a full time job as a shift manager, but I knew they just were not the right thing to do in my situation. I did my research, Googled a few things, searched on YouTube and decided that the right direction for me would be studying at The Open University.

For those of you who don't know what The Open University is, it's an online university where you do your course at home and have the option of full time or part time study. Now some people cannot get their head around this concept, but it's exactly the same as conventional university life, just at home and mostly online. You have set assignments which you send in every month and, even have exams, where you go to the nearest exam centre to sit your paper. There are tutorials held with your tutors and you even have meetings with your tutorial group online. You can also apply for student finance just like every other university in the UK. So, there's really not much difference is there?

One of the main reasons I chose to study at home is because I actually want to take my studies seriously and achieve the best result possible. For me, at Swansea University I felt like freshers was too much and don't get me wrong, I love a drink! I just didn't enjoy it. Everything just felt like a joke and I'm not paying that much money to get a degree I didn't even enjoy studying. Do you know what I mean? So, I chose to study a subject which I love. I'm going to chase my dreams with the help of this blog and my degree. I want to be a writer. It will happen. It'll be tough and I understand that, but I have always loved writing. Even when I was younger, I used to make a mini magazine for the family.

As of October the 4th, 2014, I am an English Literature and Creative Writing student at The Open University and I cannot wait!

Are you going to university this year? What are you studying?

The Comforter by Lush

As the sun sets, and the colder months begin to make their way into our lives, we need to take care of ourselves. I'm not talking about vitamins and healthy eating here, I'm talking baths with bubbles. Lots and lots of bubbles. Ever since I was a young girl, I have always found bubble baths so relaxing. There's something special about dipping your first toe in to check the temperature and then completely submerging yourself in the tub. On a cold, wet and windy day, there's nothing more I look forward to than coming home and running a bath. Add in a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows and maybe a few candles lit, and I am in heaven. Baths are one of my favourite things about Autumn/Winter.

When it comes to bath products, I always used to get a load over Christmas and then use them throughout the year. I never treated myself and went out to buy a nice bubble bath or anything. This was until quite recently where I was walking through the streets of Swansea and smelt that smell... You know the one.... That Lush smell. It was a cold day and the smell enticed me into the shop. Since then, I've never looked back.

I always make sure I have at least one Lush product at the house, just in case I need a bit of bath TLC. I seem to always repurchase the same product, and I don't care. I love it. It's appealing to the eye and smells so luxurious. It's also pink, which is always a plus right?! It is of course, The Comforter (buy here). As soon as you smell this beauty, you'll immediately want to buy it. Packed with a blackcurrant fragrance which results in pink bath water, what more could you want? I really do think this bubble bar is the one.

Colour Blocking With Missguided // OOTN

I kind of have a crush on all the clothes over at Missguided. Do you ever look at one brand and instantly want to buy everything on the website? I do. It's such a bad habit, especially as I don't have that much money (thanks to car insurance). I was browsing the other day and decided to get a playsuit. Playsuits are one of my favourite items to buy, even though, they can be a bit of a hassle when slightly intoxicated. You know what I mean girls! Toilet breaks mean that your friend has to come with you and has to unzip you and zip you back up. #PlaysuitProblems. But playsuits, to me, can look so flirty. They can get away with being super short as they're shorts. You can show that extra bit of leg with no worries of your underwear creeping out from underneath.

On a night out, I usually go to wear something black, of course. However, when I came across this pastel number, I knew I had to have it. The front panel is a baby pink colour and the sides and back are a pastel blue/lilac. The black outlining really did it for me. It kind of has this body slimming design to it, which I really am not complaining about. The almost halterneck style spaghetti straps look gorgeous and give the outfit that 90s vibe that's going around right now. Who doesn't love the 90s, am I right?

I paired the playsuit with some heeled ankle boots. As you all probably know, I live for heeled ankle boots. I just need that extra support. This pair are from New Look but are probably out of stock by now. New Look boots have really been on point this year and I'm so impressed. I recently bought another pair from there and they're such good quality and less than £30. You really can't go wrong!

This playsuit retails for £19.99 and you can buy it by clicking here.

5 Boys You'll Meet On Tinder

Tinder; "it's how people meet," the smartphone app announces. If you're single and how you say, "ready to mingle," Tinder is meant to be a way you can connect with new people. It's completely based on looks. You see a picture, a name and an age (if the person is brave enough, they may also include a brief description of themselves... I am not one of these people). The idea is you swipe right for yes and swipe left for no. Easy as that, right? That's until you start talking to your so-called matches... Approach Tinder light heartedly and if you're actually expecting to find your future husband on there, I wish you the best of luck.

From my experience, as a nineteen year old, Welsh girl, Tinder is just there for a laugh. I don't believe that anything serious will ever come from it. It gives you an ego boost when you see the notification pop up on your screen, "Congratulations! You have a new match!" But, if you try to talk to your matches, you may come across similar characters as I have...

1// The Social Butterfly - this boy wants to know everything. Your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Kik, Tumblr, Vine... When will he quit? His profile is a stereotypical selfie with a list of all his social media links in his description. This guy craves a new follower. You will probably be able to keep a conversation going with him, as he knows exactly what you got up to that day, thanks to your earlier Instagram post that you shared to Facebook. However, the chatting soon dies down when he adds your Snapchat account and starts sharing inappropriate photos you don't want to see. *Unmatches, blocks, deletes*

2// The Topless Gym Freak - you swiped right for six great reasons. THOSE ABS. Perfectly sculpted and biceps for days. His face? Who cares?! Look at those abs. Just. Look. At. Them. He uploads gym selfies and clearly is in love with himself... But who can blame him with a body like that, right? One day, he catches you off guard and messages you, "hey u ok x" and you die a little bit inside. You start to wonder why the hell he swiped you right... Then you realise, he wants naked photos of you to add to his collection. I allow you to screenshot his abs and then swiftly click unmatch.

3// The Hairy Guy - usually seen as an alternative to your usual right swiping... A bearded God is sacred to the Tinder world and they are a rare breed of Pokemon. You have to catch them all. Sometimes, someone a little more rugged than usual is just what you need. Well, it's just what I need... Sometimes. They usually have a sleeve and have a grooming ritual better than yours. You wait patiently for the moment they post a selfie with a caption of their Snapchat account. When that day comes, you will rejoice to the heavens above, trust me.

4// The Ego Booster - sometimes we all need a pick-me-up and this boy will certainly help you out. He's sweet talking and knows the lingo. He calls you beautiful and promises back tickles and hot chocolate (even though he lives 157km away!) He talks to you better than any of your ex-boyfriends, but don't fall for it! He soon will post a selfie of himself with a caption of, "feeling really sad today x" Urghhh... This is not what you're on Tinder for. If you start telling this guy he's a gentleman he'll keep you up to 3am arguing how he's not good enough. You've told him he's lovely, and so have his other 147 matches. Just go to sleep.

5// The Tinder Date - you've been talking to them for a while now and you think, yes I will go on a Tinder date. You go out for food, you talk easily and get on okay. A success! That's until you go home and a week later they're messaging you asking, "are we ok?" You are allowed a life. Don't these boys on Tinder know that?! You have a job/are in education, you can't be replying to them every second of the day. All that happened on that date was that he paid for the meal; even the starters, and now he assumes you are basically, "a thing," now? One free meal doesn't make me your girlfriend babe.

I hope you all enjoyed reading this different post. As usual, thanks for reading!
