Do you ever get that feeling that everything is perfect and nothing can stop you? Well, that's how I felt until I found out the most heart-crushing news. The perfect guy, made me laugh, made me feel so comfortable and I gave him all of my trust just for him to throw it back in my face. Thoughts that cross my mind:

Should I have been more demanding?

Was I too trusting?

Did I let him see his friends too much?

Should I have made even more effort?

And that's just a few that circle around my mind daily. After a while, I realise that I gave everything and nothing was my fault. Shit happens, life goes on. Time to pick myself up and focus on me, myself and I.

It's come to the point in my life where I'm happy and stable. I have a degree, a full time job, a very nice Help To Buy ISA and great friends and family. So I definitely was not going to let the actions of someone else hinder me. At the end of the day, I've always been my own person and after previous relationships I promised myself that if I did meet someone and fall in love, I'd keep doing things for me. However, when you're with someone for a long time, you'd do anything for them. When you're in a long term relationship, you don't expect the worst. I guess I got too comfortable.

Old single Hannah was so confident and carefree, nothing could stop her. It's been such a long time since I was single and now I'm just stuck in limbo. I don't want to go out 'on the pull' and meet boys in bars. Realistically, the man of my dreams is not making his way down Wind Street every Saturday night neither will I find him down Chippy Lane at 3am. Thankfully, I know my worth.

So for now, I've rejoined Tinder and created a Bumble account - hoping that this may get my confidence back up and running. I've also started to exercise more and drinking less alcohol on the weekend. I'm bored of going out and spending my paycheck in the pub. Making plans with my girls for cocktails in the 'Diff sounds so much better than a night out at my regular with the same faces surrounding me. I'm posting the fire selfies, I'm learning to flirt again and sooner or later Hannah will be back with a vengeance. Stay tuned...

Self care is something that many people take for granted. Previously even I have thought it was unnecessary, however as I'm working my way well into my twenties, I realise that self care should be a staple in every person's life. What is self care? Self care is doing something that will make you happy - whether that's cooking, exercising, painting, writing or mountain climbing! Taking the time to make sure you have a fun and happy life will result in you feeling more energetic, more social and more confident. So, what are the warning signs that you should start practising self care?

1. YOU'RE CONSTANTLY TIRED

For a very long time, I was struggling to get up in the morning. It was an actual task to get me out of bed before 11am. Right now, that makes me shudder. If this is you, you're probably over sleeping or just don't have a continuous sleep routine. Personally, I know how hard it is to have a sleep routine when you work different shifts each day but there is only one way to conquer this - when that alarm goes off, get up immediately and make your bed. When you make your bed in the morning, you are less likely to jump back in and more likely to be motivated to do something with the extra time you've given yourself. I listened to this sleep meditation podcast thing ages ago and it changed the way I thought about sleep. Basically, it's drilled into our brains that we need a full eight hours to function properly. However, everyone is different - if you wake up before your alarm, you probably do not need anymore sleep, so get up, make your bed and have your breakfast (unless it's 2am, go back to bed).

Read my post on my morning routine to find out how being a morning person changed my life.

2. YOU DON'T FEEL GOOD ENOUGH

I'm sure I'm not the only person who goes through this feeling at least once a month. The worst part of this is that I know deep down I am good enough, but lil old self doubt loves to make an appearance now and then. If you feel like this often, it's time to say hello to mindfulness. Mindfulness makes you focus on the positive and forget the negative. Maybe start writing three things a week you are happy about or make time for one of your favourite hobbies each week. I recently discovered mindfulness and began blogging again because of it. Blogging is something I love and it keeps me sane during these, "I'm not good enough," days.

Here's a post on the importance of self-appreciation, if you want to find out some more tips.

3. YOU AREN'T BODY CONFIDENT

Being body confident is all in your head. Forget about have a toned stomach and legs to die for, if you think positively about your body you will have legs to die for and a perfect stomach. 2017 was the year I joined a gym - something I said I'd never waste my money on. Quite frankly, I haven't lost any weight, I haven't gained any weight, I haven't noticed any major changes in my body physically. Mentally, I've never felt better, I'm so energetic, I feel great in everything I wear and I look forward to visiting the gym. I know, it sounds crazy. This year I posted the first full body picture on my personal Instagram account in years and I was shocked at the likes and comments from my friends as they could see how confident I felt in my skin. Learning to love my body is one of the best things I have done this year. It's not all picture perfect though and it's normal to have a few wobbly days here and there. You don't have to have a strict fitness and diet regime to fall in love with your body.

4. YOU'RE DISTANCING YOURSELF FROM RELATIONSHIPS

Your partner is constantly complimenting you but you feel like they're only doing that because they have to. You feel like they feel trapped because you are in such a downward spiral, the good things in your life can't be real. This is something I have struggled with in the past and here are my tips to overcoming this feeling: your partner is with you, he/she would not have chosen you if they didn't love you entirely for who you are. If you remind yourself about this, the feeling does start to fade away. No matter how far into the relationship you are, everyone struggles from time to time. This little reminder that they chose to be with you and no one else always bounces me back to reality. Another tip would be to communicate to your partner how you're feeling and that you need support. They know you better than anyone and will always put a smile on your face when you're feeling down.

On another note, if the relationship you are distancing yourself from is something you are not feeling positive about one bit, then end it immediately. Once it's ended, the hurt is over and done with. You should always look forward to spending time with your partner. If you don't, it's a bad sign and something you should think about cutting from your life to improve your mindset.

5. YOU'RE AVOIDING YOUR TO-DO LIST

Sitting in your PJs all day watching Netflix is good now and then but if you're making a habit out of this it's time to reevaluate your mindset. A good tip to start doing this is by making a list of all of your tasks for the day/week. Once your list is sorted, you can prioritise certain tasks. Ticking off or crossing out (my personal favourite) each task as the day goes on feels so good and make you want to keep conquering your to-do list. You may even start a new project or hobby because you feel so motivated. The more tasks you tick off, the less stressed you will feel. You will feel more free to try new things as you have finished all of your tasks for the day and have nothing else planned.

6. YOU'RE CANCELLING PLANS

Being in a negative mindset can start to make you feel like a recluse. You just want to spend the whole day by yourself, in your comfies, eating snacks with the remote in your hand. I've been there and sadly I've done that. Your friends text you in the morning asking if you're still coming to pre-drinks at theirs tonight and you start thinking of excuses not to go. My usual go-to is, "I'm skint," as in a part time retail job, it's believable. I kept making this excuse without realising what effect it was having on myself and my friendships. At one point, my friends asked if I was avoiding them. It was at that moment I thought I need to stop this and make the effort to see them. Cancelling plans over and over was doing nothing for my social life and I spent most evenings sat at home watching crap TV. Now I'm over this and know I need to make a habit of seeing my friends at least once a week to catch up with them and not only have a support system for myself, but to offer support to them when they need it too.

7. YOU'RE EATING BECAUSE YOU'RE BORED

Okay, so I'm still guilty to this. It's so hard to not kill time when you're an only child and home alone by raiding the fridge. My current obsessions are crisps and biscuits - preferably Pringles and custard creams. When I'm trying hard to avoid this boredom eating, I pour myself a large glass of water and basically down it. If I'm still feeling like I need to throw myself at the biscuit barrel, I will eat a healthy alternative to try and curb the craving. Some of my favourites include rice cakes with almond and coconut butter with banana on top, yogurt and berries, a Nakd bar, cucumber and carrot sticks or baby plum tomatoes. Now, if you're STILL hungry after a healthy snack, then I think it's time to think that you're legitimately hungry and it's time for dinner!

I stumbled upon this blogpost yesterday and it really made me think about my week, what I enjoyed and what I was grateful for. Gratitude journalling is something I have always been interested in but sitting down to write them in a notebook seems so concrete to me and I don't feel the need to do it and have it there physically on paper. On a blogpost, it seems more realistic for me as I will post this (hopefully) every Sunday to reflect back on my week mindfully. I've started a mindfulness journey and yes I know that sounds like who do I think I am? But it has really helped me to destress and start thinking positively again. I have been listening to a really good podcast as well which I will make a separate post on soon. Basically I would recommend everyone to practice mindfulness as it just improves your way of thinking. Here are my top five things that made me happy this week:

1 // DRIVING TO CARDIFF AND NOT GETTING LOST

I have a new job and needed a medical assessment before I start the end of the month. I used my satnav however, when I got into Cardiff centre, there was a road closure. Previously, when stuff like this happens to me, I panic, I cry and go home. However, I remained calm, followed the diversions and got to my destination just in time. I feel like my confidence when driving is improving so much and I'm even considering driving up to Liverpool soon to see my bestie. I am a new woman.

2 // NANDOS

If you know me well, you know I am almost always up for a #CheekyNandos. My order is medium butterfly chicken, peri chips and garlic bread. I promise to order something different next time. I just love carbs though. What do you order in Nandos?

3 // SPENDING TIME WITH MY FRIENDS

Friday night came around quickly! That Friday feeling meant myself and my boyfriend went to town and one of my best friends met us out, we had a lil dance and ended the night with a McDonalds. Perfection? I think so.

4 // WORKING MY LAST SATURDAY SHIFT

My job in retail will be coming to an end on the 24th of this month. I am so excited to have my weekends back for the first time in over four years. Yesterday was my last Saturday stuck in work until midnight. It was great. It was a bit sad because I have made some amazing friends at this job but they are all so supportive and wished me the best of luck. Now I'm trying to plan a leaving party!

5 // BLOGGING

Getting back into the swing of things is so important to me right now. I need to seriously up my game. I have about 5 posts that are waiting for photos or content but they should all be out over the next few weeks. I am also thinking about writing about my first day at my new job. Let me know if you think that's a good idea.

I really enjoyed writing this post and I'm actually smiling whilst typing this as this week has been so good. This really makes you focus on the positive and gets rid of any negative thoughts you may have.

I have not posted a skincare review in so long but this needs to be shared with you all ASAP. The last year or so I have personally chose to use organic products or anything form The BodyShop. I wanted to take my skincare routine back to basics and just start over. I was using way too many acne products and my skin wasn't even that oily in reality, so I was just drying my skin out over and over again. I know my skin well now, it's taken me a long time but I know what products I need to maintain healthy skin and a creamy moisturiser is the way forward. The Boots Botanics Hydrating Day Cream works so well and does what it says on the tub.

So when I went into Boots looking for a moisturiser, I stumbled upon this for £2. That's right, two whole pounds! I know this range is affordable but it is never that cheap. I thought maybe they were getting rid of the product but I've just checked online and they've redesigned the packaging. You may find these £2 tubs of moisturiser in the reduced section still, if not there is currently an offer running where you buy one Boots Botanics product and you get the second half price. Usually retails for £9.99 on it's own. I think I would still spend that on this product as it really does the job nicely and it makes your face smell a bit like the rose flavoured turkish delights that my Mam buys around Christmas time. It's the little things.

If you have really oily skin, I would give this product a miss as the texture is quite thick. I like to work this product into my fingers first and then apply to my face. I rarely get any spots while using this product and I think it's down to the fact that I'm actually using an appropriate moisturiser for my skin type. I would say I have sensitive and sometimes dry skin. Considering I have sensitive skin the rosehip scent doesn't irritate my skin, it soothes my irritated areas (usually my nose and cheeks) and makes my skin look radiant overall.

Rachel Stinson has always had a knack for writing, food, fashion, and places. Sometimes, when you visit the grocery store, you can pick a cart, which has been used by others and never cleaned up. The reason is that most women always carry more sanitary napkins around to address any unexpected “surprises.” Sometimes you could neglect that it is necessary for your ‘time of the month’ so it is better to prepare it earlier rather than you meet an uncongenial condition to deal with later. This sanitary pad won't always be available when you need. It also occupies a small corner in a woman’s handbag.

Carrying a pepper spray will always give you the confidence to face any threat and keep you safe from all harm.

I can now say goodbye to retail and say hello to the 9-5 life. Hello weekends. One thing I noticed when applying for <strike>so many</strike> jobs was I was getting mixed up with all of the different phone calls. I decided to make a spreadsheet to keep up to date with every job application I had submitted. I've made this free PDF for any other job seekers so you can also quickly refer back to it, if in doubt.
If like me, you applied to many similar jobs, it can be confusing to see what stage you are with each company. This printable is a great resource to have when job seeking as you can use the different steps (1,2,3,4,X) to refer back to when a phone call comes through. I personally found it so helpful and had to share it with you.
It's quite strange to think that in a month's time, I will have a whole new routine, a new job, new friends, new opportunities. Already have so many different post ideas in the make line. Can't wait to update you all. Somehow I've managed to get Bank Holiday Weekend off - so many drinks shall be had. Cocktail o'clock.
Hope you found this printable useful whilst job hunting.
This is probably a shock, but I'm back! After just over a year out of blogging, I finally can delve back into this part of my life. As you may or may not be able to tell, I've redesigned my blog - I even considered making a brand new blog but I feel like I can't get rid of Hannah Notes as this is where my love for writing and being creative started.

Okay so a few things to note since I've been gone:

1. I've finished my degree with The Open University!

That's right, you are now looking at a girl with a BA(hons) English Literature! I have never been so happy or more proud of myself. Getting a degree has been my dream from a very young age. This may be a strange dream for a little girl to have but I am the first person in my family to get a degree and I'm absolutely chuffed. It's quite funny to think back about how I thought my life would be after/during my degree. When I was younger, I thought I'd be married shortly after my degree! It actually sounds ridiculous now. I remember making a ten year plan in a Religious Studies class (don't ask me what this had to do with religion mind?!). I wish I still had it so I could compare how my life has gone - one thing I'm certain as it definitely went off plan circa 2014.

From starting a degree in Geography at Swansea Uni, to dropping out and having a huge panic about what I was actually going to do with my life. Going to apprenticeship admin interviews, going to heaps of job interviews, to stumbling over The Open University and thinking I could do that! To actually signing up, enrolling, starting first year in Arts and Humanities to finding my true love of literature and writing. Ending university with marks I could only have dreamt of 4 years before. What a journey it has been.

2. Ironically, what am I actually going to do with my life?

It's all fun and games until you accept your qualification online and begin to realise a) you're skint and b) you need a full time job ASAP. The end has already happened and now I'm sat here waiting for my evening shift to start in Tesco, searching for full time jobs.

My passion is writing and I would love to have the chance to work in an environment where I get to use my best skills. I've applied to so many content writer/content editor jobs and I feel like they will never even consider me. But full time work is needed as I need money. I feel like I'm losing my social life because I actually can't afford to go for meals/go to the cinema/go out for drinks. Why is it so hard to have everything balanced out nicely? I need that work-life balance and that 9-5, Monday to Friday life is calling my name. No more Saturday evening shifts - maybe one day?

For now, I'm going to rediscover my love for this blog. I'm going to try and learn new things like SEO so I can increase my audience. Maybe even start making some free printable templates - I've already got a few in mind.

Anyone else recently graduated and endlessly searching for jobs?

Try to keep positive!

A wrap dress does wonders for any body type. Whether you're busty, flat-chested or the average cup size; this shape of dress enhances your decolletage with delight. This paired with a tied-in waistline slims your figure and boasts the curves of your body. At the moment, this is my favourite style of dress so it made sense to devote an entire post to these beauties I found on ASOS, today. So, I got up, had breakfast, finished an episode of Sex and The City and got changed into running clothes. Yes everyone, I did it, I went outside in the real world, and ran. I'm not going to lie and say it was amazing and I've never felt better... It was awful, I was out of breath so easily, I was warm, sweaty, red-faced and it was so windy. Today I realised the huge difference between a run indoors and outdoors. Wow. How do you runners do this?

I don't know why but I thought it would be a breeze (it was literally blowing a gale). I could not run the whole way and switched from a fast walk to a jog/run... I don't even know if that's good. I used the Nike Running app to track it and my aim was to run for 20 minutes, here are my stats:

Pre-run, I did Run Ready Yoga from the Nike Training Club app. I don't really love the app but the yoga is great for stretching. For the first day, I wanted to keep it simple, but oh my word, it was difficult. I'm now delving through my Lush products and am getting ready to slip into a bath before work.
How did the Race For Life come around so quickly? For <strike>weeks</strike> months, I have been putting off exercise and comfort eating, blaming it on the stress of my degree... I no longer have this excuse and am free for the Summer. Why. I have been saying to myself that I'm going to join the gym for so long, why do I keep putting it off? Money, to be frank. I don't want to pay so much for something that I could do at home. So why don't I get off my arse and jump on the exercise bike? There's just no motivation. At. All.

Binge-watching Sex On The City (even right now, as I write this post) is a habit that I must start whilst being on the exercise bike, or doing a pilates video on YouTube. One of the main reasons I signed up for Race For Life was to raise money for the charity, to give myself a target and lastly, to introduce exercise into my everyday life. Exercise is so good for you, not only will it make you look fantastic, it will make you feel like a Victoria Secret model.
Exercise improves your mood, confidence, stress level and your way of thinking - something I need. This has become my motivation. This year of university has tested me, as well as, getting a new job and fitting into new social groups, my head is spiraling. I'm hoping that hopping onto the exercise bike, doing a pilates class, going for a swim or a walk down the seafront will make me feel like myself again.

Here's a quote from a study into exercise and mental health:

Evidence is convincing that exercise can be useful in treating and avoiding depressive illnesses, and can be used as a means of reducing stress and anxiety on a daily basis. In addition, there is sufficient evidence to show that single bouts of activity can improve mood and sleep quality and that people who are more active are much more likely to rate themselves and their sense of mental well-being more positively. The feeling good effect of exercise therefore seems to be substantiated by research. In addition, regular exercise appears to offer a vehicle for more deep-seated change through improvements in the way we view our physical selves, and this has potential to generalize to higher self-esteem and identity change. Any negative mental effects from exercise seem to affect only a small percentage of participants. - Dr Kenneth R. Fox, 1999, The influence of physical activity on mental well-being.

Reading that study, it puts into perspective how amazing exercise is for your brain. The feeling good effect is something that everyone can appreciate.
I moved on to the next chapter in my life, left extra baggage behind, focused on people who actually cared about me and took important steps towards my education and career path. I've recently seen a lot of young girls calling themselves or their friends, 'Grandma's' on social media. People joke about this, but is it really a bad thing? These so-called Grandma's are the girls who are staying in on the the weekend to organise their week ahead, to steer their body away from binge drinking and getting a good night's sleep. Does that really sound so terrible?
I recently read this article by Flo Perry and it made me laugh at how relatable it was. I've only just started my twenties and I already agree with the majority of the points made. I sometimes wonder if me not being able to stay out past 1am or taking my big, warm coat out with me makes me boring? But, now I have actually had time to sit down and think about it, I think it makes me sensible... Sensible doesn't always have to be boring... I have my moments!

In my mind I've grown out of going clubbing every student night and Saturday. Instead I like to go for drinks with my boyfriend and friends to the local and get some food to go with my drink of choice. Or even have a night in, watch a film with popcorn and cup of tea.

For months, I've considered myself the boring friend, but in reality I really don't think I'm alone in feeling this way and I'm so glad. I wish I could stay out until 5am dancing all night and wear heels, no tights and a strapless dress... But, I'm just over it. I'm starting to plan my future and definitely do not need a dreaded hangover whilst completing internship applications or updating my CV.

You might say I've grown up too quickly, but I believe that the twenties are the career-shaping years and I really do need to get planning my path in life. If this makes me a Grandma, pass me the knitting needles!

Do you embrace your inner Grandma? Let's be friends!
Slight exaggeration? I think not. I've never been big on hair care, in fact, I put off hair cuts for months, even years. Bad, isn't it? A few months ago I had the best haircut of my life and since then, I keep going back for that regular trim. I can't believe how much easier my hair is to manage after a cut at the local hair salon. Why did I suffer with Hagrid-esque hair for so long?! My hair type is dry, frizzy, curly and overall plain wild. I once saw Amelia Liana talking about this online test you could do on the L'Oreal Paris website to find out what range would be best for your hair. So, I took the test and it resulted in the Elvive Extraordinary Oil range. Since then, I haven't looked back.

In the past, I've mainly used cheaper, supermarket own brand shampoos and conditioners because I'm really not fussy and just grab anything that sounds good or is on offer. When I first used the combination of the Extraordinary Oil range, I immediately felt such a dramatic difference in the texture of my hair. First of all, it was silky... My hair was silky. It was a dream to comb through in the shower. Before I blow dried my hair, I ran the hair oil through my mid lengths and ends - the end result was shiny, soft and manageable hair.

The range includes six different flower oils: rose, chamomile, flax, lotus, tiara and sunflower. Together they smell so good. It's a strong, sexy scent, and it completely does it for me. Washing my hair can be a task but the scent puts me in such a good mood and I actually look forward to the process, just to smell the shampoo and conditioner.

The hair oil that goes with the range, really does a great job before a blow dry. Especially if you have dry, damaged hair. I use about two pumps on wet hair and after the blow dry, I may add some to the ends of my dry hair for extra shine (great for a date night)!
It is no secret that Christmas and January for an Open University student (or any student) can be a <strike style="text-align: start;">huge</strike> MASSIVE distraction. I procrastinated last year and guess what? I procrastinated the same time this year! Joking aside, January was full of assignment deadlines, for which I had to prioritise my workload. It was difficult but I have come out smiling. Now I'm in the game of playing catch up, staying up to date with the current week's reading, as well as some chapters I may have skipped whilst prioritising. Today's post includes some hints and tips for students who are hardcore procrastinators, like me.

STEP 1
Read over the assignment requirements.

What materials do you need to read? Do any further research. Complete online activities and make notes, page mark important quotes etc.

STEP 2
Make a to-do list.

Nothing is more satisfying than ticking off/crossing out an activity off your list. My to-do list in January has been never ending - the joys!

STEP 3
Plan your assignments.

I'm talking colour coding, mind maps, lists, venn diagrams, tables, charts, anything that works best for you! I'm a lover of colour and mind maps, personally. The colour keeps me interested on the plan of action.

STEP 4
Shut off all distractions, sit down and write.

Get your first draft out there. Complete your references, check your format requirements. Take a break, maybe have a sandwich and a glass of water, look back over your essay and edit until you're happy with your submission. Send it off and breathe.

STEP 5
Make a new list of things you need to catch up with.

Prioritise your workload so you cover the most important points. Make notes of things you think may pop up in future assignments/exams.

These five steps truly have motivated me to get back into the swing of studying. It is so difficult to focus over the Christmas period, I understand that (trust me)! Changing your mindset and making lists is exactly how to get back on track and boss your reading list!

Hope this post helped you! Do you have any study tips to share?

Thanks for reading,
Please tell me you've seen the ah-mazing outfits the Kardashian/Jenner's wore at the Yeezy Season 3 show in New York? These women are killing it and I've quickly become obsessed with their Instagram accounts. My favourite looks would have to be Khloe and Kylie's. I love the fur coats with Khloe's nude one-piece and Kylie's embellished top as it adds a sense of luxury and how I really can't afford their outfits - sigh. I must admit, I'm not a great fan of the beanie on Kylie's head... I'm not a hat lover in general.

I love embellishments and sparkles and sequins. These looks are stunning on the Kardashian and Jenner ladies. The pairing with fur, is something I never would have considered, but they pull it off and I'm genuinely searching for faux fur jackets as I'm typing this. I thought I'd do a little fashion post on how I would style myself if I was a Kardashian/Jenner - a girl can dream!
I have to admit, that I'm a lover of the holiday. I think it's a great excuse to spend some quality time with your loved one or even your best friends. I've decided to share with you all some of my favourite gifts I've found this year for my Valentine. I would probably send these gifts to my friends as well (apart from the love coupons haha!)
The internet is THE place to find the right gift this Valentine's Day. You can find some great handmade gifts from Etsy, for example the novelty love coupons, cushions and Princess Leia card. I have just ordered a Star Wars themed card for my boyfriend, I can't wait to see his face when he opens it! Another store which I was drawn to by the utter cuteness of the products, is Boomf. Whoever thought of that name, well done, I love it. Your favourite pictures printed onto marshmallows is definitely what everyone needs this Valentine's Day. The last company I'm supporting is BloomNation which is a marketplace that supplies you with local florists. I think this is such a great idea because you can view photos of stores' products before purchasing, ensuring you get the best bouquet to woo your Valentine. BloomNation was founded in August 2011 and is a concept I had never heard of before - I thought I'd mention these as I love the idea of their business and it's perfect for all my American readers! Hopefully one day, BloomNation will be worldwide! If you order from there, remember to tweet a picture with the hashtag #AlwaysBeBlooming. You can also follow their twitter @BloomNation for upcoming news and great giveaways! Flowers are the ultimate, classic Valentine's Day gift.
I apologise! The reality of trying to keep up with a post every day, a hectic retail job and university was too much to take on. Hey ho, we learn from our mistakes! January is almost coming to an end and to be honest, it has been a blur! Assignment deadlines, never ending overtime and not feeling 100% has all caught up to me and I finally feel like I can breathe and update you all with what 2016 has in store for me.

I have never been big on New Year resolutions, but I did make one which I have stuck to (so far!) No take out food in January... Kind of like, dry January but with Mcdonald's, KFC, Burger King, Domino's, a chinese or fish and chips. I really wanted to start cooking more, saving money and thinking about what I'm actually putting into my body. HOWEVER, I am still surrounded by Christmas chocolate and now the Easter eggs have arrived in work and I am forever surrounded by chocolate!!! Help. This year I need to find an alternative to chocolate!

Majorly, I want to start exercising more. Especially after trying to find something to wear for the works Christmas party, which resulted in me looking like a sausage roll in a dress. Christmas has not been kind. I'm thinking of making swimming a regular activity (I'm yet to go) and I've started doing Zumba with my Mother a couple of times a week. Lol.

2016 is the year I turn 21 and I just want to make it exciting and full of new experiences. Blog-wise, I want to keep this up as I love blogging. I may not have a lot of time to pull out several posts a week, but I will try to make one or two posts a month!

I hope you've all had a wonderful start to the year!
At this time of the year, we're all searching for the amazing dress to wear to Christmas parties and wow everyone at New Years Eve. I thought I'd share with you all an app I've downloaded which helps me keep fit at home - no gym, in the comfort of your own home, and can be done whenever you're in the mood to go for it! It is called The Johnson & Johnson Official 7 Minute Workout App - it is free to download on iPhone and Android. The workouts are made up of different exercises and you can do as many circuits as you want to. The app also gives you the opportunity to start with a warm up and end with a cool down - which is perfect if it's you're working out at home.

The home screen of the app presents you with three options, firstly a straightforward, 7 Minute Workout - perfect if you have a busy day ahead of you! A smart workout which is formulated just for you according to your previous workout history. Then you have your workout library which is shown below - there are so many different workouts for different levels of fitness!

In the workout library, you have a tab called my custom workouts, This is my favourite feature of the app! You can easily chose your exercises, how many circuits and how long you want your rests to be. Here's an example of my weekly workout (I try to do this three times a week... But, in reality I sometimes, miss out a few days!)

Firstly, the Urban Decay Shadow Box is THE one! I was thinking of including one of the Naked palettes but it's the festive season and I love a hint of colour on my lids this time of the year! I especially love the purply shades which would look amazing on brown eyes! The Miss Dior perfume is gorgeous and luxurious. End of. Everyone needs some Dior in their life! Kurt Geiger have amazing deals now and then so always check back to their website! I personally love this nude bag which would look great with any coloured outfit. The Kusmi tea selection is perfect for us Brits or tea lovers in general! I'm always up for trying new teas, but I have to be honest you can't beat a cup of PG tips! The Soap and Glory gift set is perfect for girls in their teens all the way up to their 30s. It has bold packaging and the scent on these products is very similar to the Miss Dior perfume... Take note! A Pandora ring... Cliche? I love rings at Pandora and this love heart design is so sweet! Last but not least, the creme de la creme... A CHARLOTTE TILBURY lipstick!!!! OMG, I'm in love with her brand. I'm yet to own any of the products but I will be buying this lipstick in the shade So Marilyn. Gorgeous!
Especially, if like me, you work in retail! Basically I will be in a Christmas jumper every working day in December... I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. Today's post is a round up of my favourite jumpers on the market right now, as you can tell I love a good old pun! My favourite jumper would have to be the, 'I only do mornings on December 25th,' because it speaks to me.

Since using Benefit's Rollerlash, I just can't find myself falling for any other mascara. It just did such nice things to my eyelashes, but I don't want to spend just under £20 on mascara every time I run out... The last few months I've tried endless tubes of alternative mascaras and today, I thought I'd share with you an amazing hit and one complete and utter miss.

The products I'm comparing today are Maybelline's Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Mascara (£7.99) and Rimmel London's Supercurler Mascara (£6.99).

Maybelline Lash Sensational claims to give a, "layered, multiplied lash look," which to be fair, it did! This mascara was also the official mascara for London Fashion Week (I did not know this prior to my research!) The brush is curved and has a range of plastic bristle lengths. This is great to coat every lash! The brush really did grab lashes I didn't even know I had! I'd highly recommend this product!

Rimmel Supercurler claims to last 24 hours... I fail to see how. I worked a 7 hour shift wearing this and my lashes completely lost the curl, the volume and even started to smudge onto my lower lash line. It's not as if my job is physically demanding, so I don't understand how it smudged so easily. The brush is curved, like the Maybelline mascara... I prefer a curved mascara wand. However, the bristles on this brush were natural and just didn't do much for my lashes. The product darkened my lashes and added a bit of length but that was about it. No where near as curling as Rollerlash or Lash Sensational.

Being young and in a relationship has negative and positive points. It gives you a way of learning about so many aspects of life like socialising, love, heartbreak etc... But it can also be very restricting at times. Restricting someone from doing/saying/wearing something is emotional abuse. Remember that you are your own person and this is your life. This is my story of finding who I really was at 17 years old.

I've had relationships with peers and boyfriends in the past which really impacted on my state of mind. I didn't realise how much my past experiences had affected me until about 2 years ago. Being a teenage girl is never easy, I'm sure everyone can agree with that. There are so many pressures to start puberty, talk to boys, dress and act a certain way, when really you should be focusing on school and making solid friendships. Unfortunately, teenage girls are basically bullied into thinking they should wear certain clothes, some are pressured into smoking, others are even pressured into losing their virginity. It just has to stop.

I started puberty at a young age, in fact I was the first girl in my class to start my period. This meant that I sometimes had to miss Tuesday morning swimming lessons, I had to use the staff toilets and I was THE girl to come to when you started yours. Girls in my class were so curious to know what I was going through and when it hit them I was the first girl they came to, to tell me all about it and I'd just reassure them it would be okay... I know right, what a saviour I was back then. I cannot believe how nasty some children were to me because I had hairy legs or because I didn't wear a bra; there was no way I couldn't start shaving and buying bras. I basically stopped going to certain clubs because of the embarrassing things girls would say to me, it really upset me.

Moving on to when I had my first ever boyfriend. What a whirlwind of emotions... You know when people say their boyfriend doesn't let them wear things, doesn't let them go out, doesn't let them say certain words, well yeah, that's what happened to me. Why did I stay with him? I knew nothing else. I was young. Looking back at it now, it pains me to think I let this emotional abuse happen. If anyone treats me the way he treated me, I would never associate myself with them again. Growing up really does show you how you should be treated.

When that ended, I felt like a brand new person. I actually went out with the girls to college parties, I actually could wear whatever I want (e.g. a new coat I wasn't allowed to wear... Yeah a coat!) I met some amazing friends and they just knew how happy I was to finally be able to be myself with no one telling me what I could and couldn't do.

If you're in a situation like this, get out of it as soon as possible. Everyone will support you, I will support you! End the vicious cycle of head work and find yourself. Try new things, meet new people, it will transform you into the person you really are deep down.

I cannot believe it is the end of my second week of uni... It has flown by and I have gone through so. Much. Material, you would not believe!! A230: Reading & Studying Literature is seriously a hefty amount of work but, I actually kind of love it (so far)! I've always known I love studying English, but I thought I was more of an English Language girl, but oh my word, English Literature is so interesting! I've only studied one of many (many) texts at this point and I already have so many notes with many different criticisms too! This is the nerd inside me but I love reading criticisms... UGH! Anyway taking a step back from this overly raving rant about English Lit. I will go on to tell you all how my first two weeks of being a second year student at The Open University have been.

Here's some details about my student profile:

Age:20

Amount of credits taken this year: 120

Amount of credits taken last year: 120

Modules I'm studying this year: Creative Writing (A215)

Reading & Studying Literature (A230)

So, the first week had me studying the first act of Othello... I went so in depth here! Actually impressed myself with how much reading I could do. I followed the study guide and picked out a small collection of the additional reading resources. I went to town on these criticisms. Highlighters at the ready and of course, coloured pens! I'm loving the Papermate InkJoy's by the way, my favourite colour is the darker green (if you care).

I find my Creative Writing module a bit more laid back than the Literature module. I like to do the activities in my room when I'm feeling in the mood! The first week of this module was all about freewriting and clustering. I didn't like the thought of either of these techniques in the beginning to be honest. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and really don't like the thought of scribbles and messy handwriting... But, hey ho, I went with it and actually got some good results with the techniques. Love this clustering malarkey, especially for writing poems.

The second week is now coming to an end and Othello is probably one of my top Shakespeare plays. I really have come to grips with the text and just can't get enough of it. My opinion of Othello is that he is a strong, noble man who has come so far from where he started (slavery). I believe Iago bullied him completely into believing Desdemona was unfaithful. Iago is an amazing villain. What a brilliant character Shakespeare created. There are so many different thoughts I have about him: is he jealous of Othello's power/relationship? Or is he jealous of Desdemona's relationship with Othello? There's definitely some homoerotic suggestions in this play, which is really interesting for the time the play was performed.

My first couple of weeks back studying have been great, I love being back into a routine. Before the module started I was nervous to start A230, but now after starting with such an amazing play, I can't wait to carry on with the workload.

How are you finding your first weeks back at uni/college/school?

Here is the third instalment of my CV building series, if you haven't read the previous posts, please do so! Here is part one and part two. This section of your CV is the place where you get to finally show the employer who you are and what you're all about! This is the section I usually get questioned on mostly in interviews (from my own experience).

When I was in school, writing my first ever CV, I can remember getting to this section and thinking... I have no hobbies. I don't play any sports so therefore I have ZERO hobbies. You are wrong!! My section on my actual CV highlights that I have published mini-saga in a Young Writers book from 2009, it says that I enjoy going swimming when I have the time to go. It also outlines how I run and create content for my own personal lifestyle blog. Now if that doesn't sound impressive to an employer I don't know what does! Unless your applying to a bricklaying job then they may be a bit like... Why are you here?!

If you have a blog PLEASE put it on your CV. It's something you love and feel passionate about, so when an employer asks about it, you probably will think of hundreds of things to say about it! Which is great as you won't have many awkward moments in an interview! Write that you know basic/advanced HTML, have skills in writing, organising, time management, photography, social media... The list is seriously endless! Blogging looks amazing on that CV, trust me!

Other things to include in this section would be: any sports you play, going to the cinema, socialising with friends, dog walking, charity work, photography, religious activities, shopping, music, gaming, gardening, painting, modelling, skydiving, bungee jumping - whatever you want!!! Show them how interesting and different to the other applicants you are! Don't be shy!

Make sure to follow me to keep up with this series!
I am just about to start my second year and I am beyond excited to get back into the routine of studying. The majority of my study will be from at home so I wanted to make sure that I was properly prepared for my second year. First of all, I just want to emphasise that I am finally a second year university student... It feels so good to have found the right course and university for me! Even though, studying with the OU is a challenge, I would recommend it to everyone! Like any university student, you must be well-equipped with stationary. Yes, I said it, stationary *gasps in excitement!*

Now I have all of my stationary ready, and my course books have arrived, I am really looking forward to studying again. I love getting back into a routine, especially after such a long break from studying (4 months)! Bring it on!! If you'd like to know more about the modules I'm doing I'll happily make a seperate post allllll about them!
